About Me

Singer/Songwriter Tutu Tutani was born in Zambia, and grew up in New York City.
Born to an established musical family, she began singing as soon as she could hold the microphone in front of her father’s band. In New York City, Tutu honed her craft while fronting the successful New York based Afro-pop quintet Afroblue, who received critical attention for their successful album Pelesa. Tutu has also recorded with International Artists such as Ronny Jordan and producer Lee Stone and has won both the Songlink International and the John Lennon songwriting competitions. Since moving to Berlin, she has been a featured artist at the Berliner Philharmonie, the US Ambassador’s American Independence Day Party and numerous prestigious venues throughout Germany.

Influenced by Miriam Makeba, Robert Plant and Nina Simone, Tutu’s distinctive vocal style combines the clear pealing wail of Southern Africa with Jazz, Blues, Rock and Soul.
